How our fees work

PKT combines structural investigation and repair expertise with insurance claim representation where separately appointed as loss assessor. We confirm the proposed scope, fees and payment arrangements in writing before you decide whether to proceed.

Initial structural inspection and preliminary report

Fees for a domestic visual structural inspection and preliminary written report start from €1,783.50 including VAT (€1,450 excluding VAT). The total fee depends on the property, the agreed inspection scope and reporting requirements.

Commercial and institutional inspections are quoted individually according to the building, scope and reporting requirements.

What the initial appointment includes

  • Review of the available property history and information supplied.
  • Visual inspection of accessible areas relevant to the reported cracking or movement.
  • Recording of significant observations, with crack measurements and photographs where appropriate.
  • A preliminary written report explaining our observations, possible causes and recommended next steps.

The initial inspection may identify a need for further investigations before the cause of damage or an appropriate repair can be established.

We confirm the inspection scope, total fee and proposed report timescale before booking.

Payment is required in full when booking domestic inspections and before the inspection. Commercial and institutional payment arrangements are confirmed in the written fee proposal. Any alternative arrangements must be agreed before appointment. Payment, cancellation and rescheduling arrangements are explained in the engagement terms provided before booking. Applicable statutory cancellation rights are unaffected.

Further investigations and crack monitoring

Where necessary, we recommend targeted drainage testing, opening-up, foundation inspections, ground investigations or crack monitoring.

These services are agreed and quoted separately. Monitoring fees depend on the number of monitoring points, programme duration, frequency of visits and reporting required.

Our quotation identifies the work included and distinguishes PKT’s professional fees from any specialist contractor charges.

Repair design, tendering and construction stage services

Where repairs are required, we can provide remedial design, specifications, tender documents, tender assessment and inspections at key stages during construction, together with certification within our agreed appointment. The scope and professional fees are agreed for the particular project. Contractor repair costs are separate from PKT’s fees.

Insurance claim representation

Where separately appointed as loss assessor, we can review relevant policy cover, prepare and present the claim, and negotiate with the insurer and its loss adjuster on your behalf. The loss-assessing appointment, scope and fee arrangements are agreed separately. The initial inspection and preliminary report fee does not include managing the insurance claim.

Submitting an enquiry does not book an inspection or commit you to a fee.

Request a fee proposal

Tell us about your property and the cracking or movement you have noticed. Photographs and any existing reports help us understand the enquiry and propose an appropriate first step.
