PKT Consulting Engineers Ltd. is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland as an insurance intermediary (Loss Assessor). Led by Kevin Tierney, a Chartered Engineer and Certified Insurance Practitioner with 35 years’ experience, we assist policyholders with subsidence and structural-damage claims.
Where separately appointed, we act on your behalf in reviewing relevant policy cover, preparing and presenting the claim, and negotiating with the insurer and its loss adjuster. Engineering and loss-assessing services have separately agreed scopes and fees.

The claims process
Reviewing your insurance policy
We review the relevant policy wording, schedule and available claim information to identify the cover, conditions and exclusions that may affect the claim. Structural inspection and further investigation may be needed to establish the nature and possible causes of the damage. Cover and the insurer’s response depend on the policy and circumstances.
Submitting your claim
We prepare and present the claim using the available technical findings, proposed repair scope and supporting costs. We liaise with the insurer, its loss adjuster and appointed specialists to explain the damage and seek agreement on the appropriate scope and costs, subject to the policy and the claim findings.
Negotiating your claim
We negotiate the claim on your behalf, keep you informed of progress and explain settlement proposals. We will not accept a final settlement offer without your approval.
Fees and appointment
The loss-assessing scope and fee arrangements are agreed separately in writing before appointment. Separately commissioned engineering inspections, reports, investigations and design services follow their own agreed payment arrangements.
